This gem of a park in the heart of downtown Phoenix is a popular spot for kids and adults, both day and night.

An urban oasis in the desert

Phoenix Civic Space Park

This neat urban space features a huge, fascinating lighted public sculpture -- shown below -- called "Her Secret Is Patience," a splash pad with dancing water and changing light colors for kids (and adults!) to play in, the Fair Trade Cafe if you'd like a snack or refreshment, and lots of lush green grass and shady trees to hang out under. The park is a hit with kids, parents, and ASU students who are looking for a break from classes. It also plays host to community events, concerts -- and even outdoor movies on the weekends!

An urban oasis in the desertMore than just a pretty face, the park also has numerous environmentally sustainable features, such as solar panels on the shade structures capable of generating 75 kilowatts of electricity to offset the park's needs, hard surfaces that reduce heat reflection and allow rainfall to seep through to reduce damaging runoff, and immediate and easy access to public transit.

Access to the park is simple, whether by car just a few minutes off I-10 or via the METRO Light Rail which has a stop just right down the street on Central Avenue.
