City name: Hanover, New Hampshire
The little town of Hanover has a pretty big reputation -- namely, as the home of Dartmouth College. Located on the west side of New Hampshire and situated along the Connecticut River, Hanover -- which was chartered on July 4, 1761-- is just over the river from Vermont.
Money Magazine isn't the only major media outlet to hail Hanover -- National Geographic Traveler counted Hanover among its Top 50 Adventure Towns on its list of Best Places to Live & Play, while ForbesTraveler.com featured Hanover on their list of "America's Prettiest Towns."
It could also be on a list of towns favored by bestselling authors: Jodi Picoult, Janet Evanovich and Bill Bryson all have lived in Hanover.
