Stores are overflowing with festive heart candies, pink and red decorations, stickers, heart doilies and roses. Take advantage of all of the cuteness by hosting a valentine-themed baby shower.

Tissue paper letter decor

Start out with an easy decoration idea like this tissue paper letter. You can use "B" for baby or the first initial of the baby's name, if known.

What you'll need:

  • wooden or cardboard letter
  • pink, red, and white tissue paper that have been cut into 2-inch squares
  • glue gun

What you'll do:

  1. Wrap a tissue square around your finger.
  2. Apply a dot of glue to the center of the tissue paper, pulling your finger out a bit so you do not burn yourself.
  3. Press the tissue paper onto the letter.
  4. Repeat until the entire letter is covered.

  • Styrofoam wreath
  • 3-4 feather boas (found at most craft stores)

  2. Wrap the boa around the wreath, snug enough so the Styrofoam doesn't peek through.
  3. Add dots of glue here and there to keep the boas in place.

  1. Place a few Hershey's Kisses in each bag.
  2. Secure bags with clothespins.
  3. Print out these free "baby kisses" tags and add them to the clothespin with a dot of glue.
  4. Hand a favor to each guest as they leave as a way of thanking them for coming to the baby shower.

  • Cookies: Make heart-shaped sugar cookies and frost with pink and red frosting.
  • Candy: Have candy dishes around the room that are filled with traditional Valentine's Day candies. Some popular ideas are Red Hots, conversation hearts, chocolates and cinnamon bears.

  • Whip it up: Whip up a batch of yummy valentine punch! This punch is so easy to make and it tastes delicious! All you need is two 2-liter bottles of Sprite, 1/2 gallon of raspberry sherbet and a bag of frozen raspberries. Place ingredients in a punch bowl and serve.
