Send your boys back to school in clothes that are comfortable and stylish, too. From preschoolers to high schoolers and every kid in between, we have the scoop on the latest fashion must-haves for boys.

For preschoolers

Sending your child off to preschool or kindergarten is an exciting (and often anxiety-ridden) time. For young kids, it's important that their clothes are comfy and durable. Check out these back-to-school fashion essentials for your son.

Back to school for preschooler

Polo shirts - The polo shirt is often part of school uniforms, but it's an ideal piece for any school outfit. You can team up polos with khakis, jeans, shorts and anything else. The logo pocket polo (Old Navy, $13) is a terrific option. It comes in fun colors such as Buzz Orange and Ferris Blueler.

Pull-on jeans - If this is the first time your little boy is going to be away from you all day, do what you can to make his whole life easier -- and that includes getting dressed. Pull-on jeans (Old Navy, $10) make going potty quick and simple. These jeans are very inexpensive, so stock up!

Colorful laceless sneakers, graphic tees and khaki pants are also great for young boys to wear to school.

For little boys

Little boys are happy wearing just about anything -- as long as they can still get dirty. Kick off the school year by stocking up on graphic tees, relaxed jeans and these other stylish picks.

Chambray shirts - A collared, button-down chambray shirt (Old Navy, $17) is a fabulous choice for boys of all ages. It can be worn over tanks and tees, and teamed up with jeans, khakis or shorts. When the weather cools off, he can wear a long-sleeved tee or henley underneath.

Cargo pants - Cargo pants offer casual comfort and plenty of pockets. These lightweight poplin cargos (Old Navy, $20) come in four colors and sizes from 5-18. He can wear them with his chambray shirt, as well as with polos, graphic tees, sweaters and more.

This fall, make sure your little boy also has a great pair of sneakers, a few hoodies and some cozy pullovers for cool mornings.

For teens

While some teen boys are into fashion, others couldn't care less. No matter their level of interest, you should stock up on some wardrobe staples, including tees and hoodies. Here are some other pieces that your teen might like.

Western shirts - Western-style shirts in plaid prints are very stylish right now. This slim-fit western shirt (Old Navy, $25) comes in various colors in regular, big and tall sizes. It's 100 percent cotton and features button-flap patch pockets. This shirt can be worn with trendy skinny jeans or khakis.

Striped polos - If your teen wants something a little more grown up than T-shirts, polos are a good choice. They are casual enough to be worn to school but look a little more polished than a graphic tee. Right now, these slim-fit striped polos (Old Navy, $10) are on sale for an unbeatable price.

Skinny jeans - By now, you see a trend emerging. Slim-fit clothing is definitely "in" this season. Skinny jeans for guys shouldn't be tight and body-hugging like the ones for women, but rather just very slim cut. These distressed skinny jeans (Old Navy, $35) have a worn-in look and feel that he'll love.

Quick tip

Make your boy's jeans last longer by ironing patches on the inside of the knees. No one likes the look of patches on the outside, but by ironing inside of the fabric, you'll still get all the protection you need.
