Celebrate National Breastfeeding Month

August is National Breastfeeding Month and the first week of the month is World Breastfeeding Week. Breastfeeding is beautiful in all forms. In honor of the occasions, enjoy these sweet and touching nursing photos and learn why these moms chose to breastfeed — and what advice they'd give to a nursing mother who is just starting out.

Before I had my first child I was eager to breastfeed. I just always viewed it as a loving nurturing act. Symbiosis, connection. When breastfeeding him didn't work out, I felt terrible. I educated myself and when I had my second, sought support from experienced breastfeeders. WinterRose and I have been symbiotic now for over two years.

Advice to new moms is to seek support and find a good lactation consultant — and to be kind to yourself.
