Toilet paper roll Valentine's Day butterflies
Butterflies symbolize the beginning of spring with their beautiful and bright colors. Create a Valentine's Day butterfly with your child to welcome the upcoming season and celebrate the day meant for love.
Materials:
- Cardboard toilet paper roll
- Red and pink construction paper
- 1 Pipe cleaner, any color
- Scissors
- Markers
- Craft glue
Directions:
- Draw on and decorate the toilet paper roll with colored markers.
- Cut two medium hearts from the pink construction paper.
- Cut two larger hearts from the red construction paper.
- Draw on and decorate the four hearts.
- With the scissors, carefully poke a small hole through the top of the toilet paper roll.
- Thread the pipe cleaner halfway through the small hole.
- Bend the pipe cleaner so both ends are sticking up.
- Twist the two pieces together near the toilet paper roll (to keep it in place).
- Twist the top pieces of the pipe cleaner around your finger to create antennae.
- Glue the two large red hearts to the upper backside of the toilet paper roll (to form top wings).
- Glue the two medium pink hearts to the lower backside of the toilet paper (to form bottom wings).
Valentine's Day handprint love poem
This easy craft is a perfect gift for grandparents! With your child's help, create a sweet love poem and document your child's growth with his or her handprints. If you have more than one child, surround the poem with one handprint from each child.
Materials:
- 1 piece of light-colored cardstock paper (white or light pink)
- Washable red craft paint
- Fine tip marker
Directions:
- Apply paint to both hands, stamp on the far ends of the cardstock paper.
- Let dry.
- Create or look up a Valentine's Day poem.
- Write the poem in the middle of the cardstock, between the handprints.
Handmade Valentine's Day cards

Materials:
- Red, pink and white construction paper
- Glitter
- Craft glue
- Markers
- Heart stickers
- Photograph (optional)
- Photo tape (optional)
Directions:
- Fold one piece of construction paper in half, then in half again.
- Decorate the front of the card with markers, glitter and stickers.
- Write a Valentine's Day message on the inside of the card.
- With photo tape, attach a photograph to the inside or back of the card (optional).
Tissue paper flowers
This crafts is a great way to create an indoor garden or for making Valentine's Day flowers for mom.
Materials:
- 3 pieces of red tissue paper
- 3 pieces of pink tissue paper
- 1 green pipe cleaner
- 1 yellow pipe cleaner
Directions:
- Lay each piece of tissue paper in a neat stack, alternating the colors.
- Lengthwise, fold and gently crease the stack of tissue paper accordion-style (approximately 3/4-inch to 1-inch folds).
- Twist the yellow pipe cleaner around the center of the folded tissue stack.
- With scissors and while still folded, round each end of the tissue paper stack.
- Secure the green pipe cleaner to the yellow pipe cleaner to make the stem.
- Turn the flower right side up and gently pull each layer up and towards the center, one at a time.
