We are always interested in who will be the next celebrity to become a mommy. In 2011, a number of notable actresses, singers and other celebrities announced their pregnancies to the world.

What story generated the most tweets of the year? Beyonce's pregnancy announcement! At the Video Music Awards, Beyonce announced on the red carpet that she was pregnant. It was quickly tweeted by MTV and started a firestorm. Later on in the night, after performing on stage, Beyonce again announced the news as she rubbed her belly: "I want you to feel the love that's growing inside me." This is the first baby for the superstar singer and her husband, Jay-Z.

Social media is the way to go for everything these days -- even baby announcements. In February, Jessica Alba announced on her Facebook page that she was expecting with this message: "It's been a while since I've been on FB & I thought I'd drop by to let you all in on some exciting news>Honor is going to be a Big Sister!" Alba and her hubby Cash Warren welcomed their baby daughter Haven in August.

Alba isn't the only Jessica that made news with her pregnancy in 2011. Jessica Simpson announced on her website she was expecting a baby with her fiance Eric Johnson. Since it was Halloween, Simpson posted a picture of herself in a mummy costume with an obvious pregnant belly. The caption read: "It's True! I am going to be a mummy."

Kourtney Kardashian

Her sister Kim made plenty of headlines in 2011, but Kourtney Kardashian had some news of her own. The eldest Kardashian sister made the announcement on the cover of Us Weekly. This is the second child for Kourtney and her boyfriend, Scott Disick. The duo has a 2-year-old son, Mason.

With all the high-profile, over-the-top announcements, it's refreshing to see a couple that is still grounded. Of course, we are talking about Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck. In August, they announced that they would be welcoming a third child into their family by releasing a short statement saying they were "thrilled." Garner and Affleck have two daughters -- 2-year-old Seraphina and 5-year-old Violet.

Numerous other celebs announced their pregnancies in 2011 as well, from funny woman Tina Fey to Mad Men's January Jones to former Disney star Hilary Duff. We wish all the mommies and their babies health and happiness in 2012.
