Every year is special and significant. Make 2009 even more so, but letting your kids make a scrapbook of 2009 memories on New Year's Eve. Phyllis Cambria, co-author of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Throwing a Great Party, suggests having a bunch of 2009 photos at the ready, along with a scrapbook for each child.
"They can add ticket stubs, postcards from trips they may have taken, drawings, report cards and anything else they want. They can also, depending on their age, write down a list of their favorite memories and include that in the book as well," says Cambria.
Another fun way to commemorate the occasion? With a family movie. You can just videotape the evening or make it even more special by doing a 2009 recap. "Every year we video tape each family member talking about what they did that year and their wishes/resolutions for the following year. Kids really do say the darndest things," says Jess Todtfeld, president of Media Training Worldwide.
Another fun recap idea? Have the family organize and perform skits rehashing some of the family's favorite moments of the year.
