Cops pulled over the artist, real name Warren Griffin III, and his friend Ryan Butler for running a red light at 1:40 AM. When cops searched the car they found enough pot to up the charges from mere possession to intent to sell.
A police spokesperson said she did not know the exact amount of marijuana seized.
Griffin and Butler each posted $20,000 bail and were released Sunday morning.
Warren G, who grew up in Long Beach, is best known for his songs "Regulate" and a cover of "I Shot the Sheriff."
