We loved sifting through social media last week and seeing all the fantastic stuff posted by some of our favorite celebrities in honor of International Women's Day.
Some, like Meghan Markle (nice going, Prince Harry!), wrote movingly about injustices faced by women around the globe. Others — like Jessica Chastain, in Warsaw, Poland, filming The Zookeeper's Wife — took part in protests and rallies in the U.S. and abroad. Emma Watson even hid feminist books in nooks and crannies in New York City. As if we needed another reason to love Hermione.
But one of our favorite celebrity nods to International Women's Day came from American Horror Story's Lily Rabe. Rabe commemorated the day with a Iow-key but lovely Instagram post of herself snuggling her newborn baby girl.
The caption was short and sweet:
"Happy International Women's Day. Today. Tomorrow. Every day. Girls are magic. #internationalwomensday #weshouldallbefeminists #thefutureisFEMALE," she wrote.
Rabe and her boyfriend of four years, Hamish Linklater, announced in December that they were expecting their first child. Details are scarce, but it seems like their daughter arrived very recently — It wasn't that long ago that Rabe posted a shot of her at a Women's March, her pregnant belly covered by a tank that read, "This pussy has teeth."
Nice! We look forward to more shots from Rabe of the new arrival. And hopefully more sloganed feminist T-shirts. You can never have too many of those.
