Hunter is an English occupational name meaning "one who hunts" and ranked a very respectable No. 41 in the U.S. baby name chart in 2015. Its popularity is perhaps down to the fact that its masculinity and strength is lightened by a creative quality — the most famous bearer of the name is unconventional writer and founder of the gonzo journalism movement, the late Hunter S. Thompson.

Other famous parents who've chosen Hunter for their sons include actors Terrence Howard, Josh Holloway, Jerry Douglas, reality TV personalities Kody and Janelle Brown of Sister Wives and TV chef Guy Fieri. U.S. Vice President Joe Biden chose it for his son Robert's middle name.

The couple tied the knot in October 2010.
