Keshia Knight Pulliam has divorce to thank for her baby's name

When she's not writing, Claire Gillespie can most often be found wiping snotty noses, picking up Lego, taking photos of her cat or doing headstands.

At least Keshia Knight Pulliam's marriage troubles gave her a great baby name

Keshia Knight Pulliam is such an inspiration for all mamas going through pregnancy alone.

The former Cosby Show actress was caught up in a whole load of drama last month when she announced her first pregnancy with husband Ed Hartwell… only for Hartwell to file for divorce days later.

It all happened less than a month ago, but the mom-to-be has shown incredible strength, and on her Kandidly Keshia podcast Friday, she revealed the name she's chosen for her baby girl: Ella Grace. Pulliam, 37, said she wanted to share the name because "it is so hard for [her] to keep it in."

"I knew Ella was going to be my first baby girl's first name. Then in the midst of all of this is when she's earned her middle name, Grace," said the actress. "When I tell you through all of this the grace of God has so been with us and has covered us and protected us — she's been my saving grace to get through it."

We reckon Grace is the perfect name choice for another reason: the way Pulliam has acted throughout all the divorce drama and media speculation. When she was faced with cheating accusations from her ex-husband, she spoke up to defend herself but didn't attack former NFL player Hartwell's character in the process.

Judging from Pulliam's Instagram feed, she's coming to terms with the fact that she'll be a single mom and is focusing on the happiness her pregnancy has brought into her life rather than dwelling on what's gone wrong.

All parents have to try to make the happiness and well-being of their baby their No. 1 priority. It's not always easy and is perhaps even harder for a single parent, who is literally going it alone for the majority of the time. It can be difficult to take feelings of rejection, regret and bitterness out of the equation. Considering Pulliam has been a single parent from the very earliest days of her pregnancy, she's definitely displayed the characteristics of someone who does, as she herself says, "come from a long lineage of strong, just wonderful women."
