While there is nothing wrong with shorter baby names, they may not have the exact flowery flow you're looking for in a girl's name. These beauties are long and strong — each has at least four syllables, and some have more. A longer name is the perfect complement to short middle and last names, and better yet, they can easily be deconstructed into adorable, snappy and cute nicknames.

Take Julietta, for example. You can call your girl Julie, Jules or Etta. What about Penelope? Penny is a supersweet nickname. And Anastasia also has a few possibilities, like Ana, Stacy or Stacia. While a nickname can last a lifetime, your daughter will always have the longer, more formal version to fall back on.

Most of these names end with a feminine-sounding A, but there are others that don't. Some unique non-A-ending names are Meridian, Serenity and Antigone.

Take a few minutes, and browse this amazing baby name collection to see which names find their way onto your baby name list.
