The best Islamic baby boy names are rich in history

Baby boy names from the culture that gave us the world's most popular name

Mohammed (and its numerous variant spellings including Mohammad, Muhammed and Muhammad) is the most popular baby boy name in the world — and one made famous by a certain boxing legend, who was born Cassius Marcellus Clay but changed his name to Muhammad Ali after converting to Islam.

In fact, there are more than 500 names for the Arab prophet who founded the Muslim religion, which explains the Muslim saying, "If you have a hundred sons, name them all Muhammad."

But there are many, many more Islamic baby boy names, some of which come directly from the Koran, the central religious text of Islam. However, Muslims are not required to only use names from the Koran. Names from all sources and languages are acceptable, provided their meaning does not go against Islam's teachings.
