Big congratulations are in order for Lowe and Giudici, who have just announced they are expecting their first child on Instagram. While it’s perfectly normal for two happily married people to make a baby, it’s a little less normal for two Bachelor winners to stick with it for the long haul and start a family — and we couldn’t be happier for them. Married since 2013 following their adorable Bachelor love connection, Lowe and Giudici posted a simply sweet pregnancy announcement that is making everyone’s heart melt.
Like many other celebrity parents who have gone before them, Lowe and Giudici used Instagram as a cute and clever way to imply a pregnancy — without actually saying the words “I’m pregnant.” Long gone are the days when a celebrity sends out a formal press release about their major life changes. Today, Instagram is the quickest and most convenient way for celebs to communicate important happenings to their fans in real-time, and it also allows celebrities to post a noteworthy pic that is sure to be circulated around the Internet, along with their good news.
When announcing his baby’s gender a few weeks ago, The Rock showed us how it was done. Dwayne Johnson and his girlfriend Lauren Hashian took to Instagram to tell fans they were having a little girl by hinting through a hashtag that there would be more estrogen in their house.
Other celebs have followed suit when sharing their baby news, opting to post a subtle Instagram pic as an announcement. Kristin Cavallari announced baby number three earlier this year before even showing, with an Instagram shot of her hands forming a heart over her belly. This year, Brooklyn Decker also made her pregnancy announcement on Instagram by hugging her growing bump with the caption, “So this happened…” And who could forget Justin Timberlake’s creatively vague pregnancy announcement from the beginning of the year? After his birthday, Timberlake posted an Instagram pic of him blowing up Jessica Biel’s baby belly like a balloon that said, “Greatest gift ever.”
Lowe and Giudici’s muted Instagram pregnancy announcement follows this celebrity trend perfectly. Instead of pulling out the big guns and staging an elaborate pregnancy announcement like we often see on Pinterest, celebrities are instead choosing to capture real-life moments to share the news with their fans. Giudici’s Instagram pic avoids the word “pregnancy” altogether, with a cheeky “Hey baby” caption, and Lowe’s similar Instagram shot simply says, “I’m going to be a dad!”
If their Instagram game is anything like their approach to parenting (heartfelt and sweet), then Lowe and Giudici have a lucky little baby on the way.
