Let kids have fun at the farmers market with this fruit and veggie scavenger hunt

I get so excited when the sun starts making an appearance again in the spring because it means my neglected garden is ready for work and our local farmers market will be opening soon. There is a lot of pressure these days to make sure we're eating healthy, and my personal motto is that fresh is best. It's a little reminder I need when I start feeling overwhelmed by so many food options at the store.

Every weekend we stock up on fresh veggies and fruit at the farmers market and not only do I love feeling like I'm supporting our local farmers, I also love reinforcing the habit of healthy eating with my kids.

To get them excited about the food we pick out I like to challenge them in a farmers market scavenger hunt. The idea is simple, I share a "what am I" riddle that describes the item I need, then they solve the riddle and hunt down the answer.

You can print sheet one of the scavenger hunt here and sheet two (with the answers) here.
