When you are watching the 2014 Winter Olympics, keep your eye on Noelle Pikus-Pace — one of the best skeleton sliders in the world. Like most athletes, she has had her share of setbacks on the road to success. Several years ago, she suffered a compound fracture of her right leg when she was hit by a bobsled in a freak accident. She fought back and recovered, going on to claim the World Championship title in 2007. She raced to fourth place at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver, and then announced her retirement. But she decided that she wasn't done with the sport yet and now she is gunning for a medal at the 2014 Sochi Games.
Pikus-Pace has two wonderful children — a 5-year-old daughter named Lacee and an almost 2-year-old son named Traycen. The family attends church every Sunday and are very involved with the youth within their area. Pikus-Pace currently spends between 5-10 hours each week planning activities, camps and leadership training for youth ages 12 to 18. "I absolutely love it," she says. "My family is my lucky charm — they make me want to be the best! My future goals are to watch my kids experience life and have dreams of their own. I want to be the best wife and mom that I can be and enjoy every moment. I am realizing how quickly life goes by and I just don’t want to blink."
Fun fact: Pikus-Pace's favorite actress is Sandra Bullock.
