Patriotic picnic

There’s no better way to enjoy the 4th of July weekend than by having a romantic picnic for two. They’re easy to plan, totally affordable and always a fun way to spend an afternoon. Choose some red, white and blue fare (mini blueberry cheesecakes, tomato salad, cheese plate of only white cheeses with some berries for contrast – you get the idea). Pack a blanket, some wine and you’re all set for a romantic outdoor meal with your man.

Outdoor concert

Many cities host outdoor concerts to celebrate the 4th of July. Check your local listings and spend some time rocking out to patriotic tunes. If you and your guy like music, this is a great way to bond and do something fun together on the long weekend.

Host a backyard BBQ

If you’ve been together long enough to be comfortable entertaining together (or you live together), why not host a 4th of July bash for all your friends? Don’t fancy yourselves great cooks? Just supply the beer, a signature beverage (sangria or punch are easy choices) and the burgers (veggie and meat) and get your guests to bring their favorite summer salads or desserts.

Hit a rooftop bar

If there’s one nearby, a rooftop bar can be a great place to spend the 4th of July, especially if you get a good view of the fireworks. If so, make an evening of it and stay for a meal (if your chosen spot serves food) and settle in to enjoy the show.

Watch a fireworks display

Most towns and cities put on fireworks displays for the 4th of July. Check the paper or local magazines to find out the best places to take in the show. Grab your guy, a blanket and cuddle to celebrate the 4th with some fun fireworks.

A picnic is such a fun way to celebrate the holiday! It is relaxing and no hassle, and there are so many fun yard games that can be brought along to play as well. Then just stay put for the fireworks and you combine two of your great ideas into one!

A fireworks display is always a lot of fun and definitely appropriate to celebrate with your loved one! A few friends of mine are going to a baseball game july 4th evening, and after the game there are fireworks. Sounds like a ton of fun in my book!
