We turned to Emily Reifel, wedding planner for the Plaza hotel, who shares her top five wedding trends for this year. Return to romanceThis year is all about embracing your feminine side and opting for elegance over anything experimental. “Lace gowns, long gloves and soft flowing veils are back,” Reifel tells us. Something tells us a certain royal wedding last year might be the catalyst behind this more refined twist on wedding glamour. We saw designers using lovely lace and gossamer-light fabric at Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier to name just a few. Back to classicLike the aforementioned return to romance, this year is all about going back to classics where decor and accessories are concerned. “It’s all about out with the new and in with the old,” Reifel says. “Traditional china and gorgeous candelabras are replacing white square plates and untraditional centerpieces.” The result is a more sophisticated, delicate look that offers a timeless appeal. 3 Classic wedding trends return >>
