5 Celeb couples that should've had a prenup

For those of us mortal creatures who don’t make millions of dollars a year, prenups aren’t a huge worry. But for celebs who rake in millions for just one movie or TV season, they’re a necessary evil. Looks like these celeb couples should have signed one before walking down the aisle.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand

The "California Gurls" singer is going to have some fiery new song material after her recent breakup with hubby Russell Brand. After Brand filed for divorce last week, everyone started to wonder: What would happen to the couple's fortune? Since the couple, who wed in India in October 2010, didn't bother to get a prenup, things are bound to get a little messy.

As SheKnows formerly reported, the 27-year-old is estimated to be worth over $44 million and her funnyman ex, 36, stands to make off with half of the sexy singer's millions under California's community property law. Seems like Brand, who's only worth an estimated $17 million, will have the last laugh here.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe

Things weren't all sunshine and roses for the perky Legally Blonde star when she divorced from hot husband Ryan Phillippe after seven years of marriage. The shooting star had to split half her earnings with her less successful hubby at the time and took a major hit. Things turned out quite OK for the petite cutie, though. Witherspoon later married agent Jim Toth in 2011 and went on to star in hit films like Water for Elephants. Here's to hoping Miss Witherspoon learned her lesson and signed on the dotted line before jumping into a new marriage.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie

The Material Girl's ex walked off with a ton of material things after this power couple split in 2008. As SheKnows reported, Ritchie walked away with $60 million in assets, including the former couple's 1200-acre English estate. Seems like Madonna walked away relatively unscathed, considering the fact that her worth was estimated at $500 million at the time. The successful singer got to keep her New York and Los Angeles homes and most of her fortune in the settlement.

Mel Gibson and Robyn Denise Moore

Ouch! Looks like Mel will think twice next time before marrying without a prenup. The mega star is certainly feeling the hurt after he lost millions and millions to his ex wife of 31 years. As People reported, the actor and his wife never had a prenup, so Gibson recently had to pay up $425 million, half his fortune. This one is certainly one of, if not the biggest, celebrity divorce payouts in history, and we'd be willing to bet that Mr. Gibson won't be walking down the aisle anytime soon after this marriage disaster.

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey

It was a marriage made in reality TV heaven... until it wasn't. Turns out Nick Lachey really couldn't take another "Is this chicken?" blonde moment from his sexy singer wife, and the beautiful duo split after three years of wedded bliss. Simpson ended up paying Lachey much more than she'd anticipated due to her lack of prenup, and we sure do hope that she's learned her lesson. Why? Well, folks, it'd be quite the shame if her next celebrity marriage (to NFL hottie Eric Johnson) ended horribly and she has to fork over billions from her retail empire!

People will and call her a gold-digger because she took the cnftidenoiality agreement in exchange for money.The funny thing is, had she gone on Oprah and talked about her divorce, people will still and say she's whiney, etc etc.Some people (usually men like Tiger, or men who wish for Tiger's lifestyle because they delusionally think it's appealing), hate this woman no matter what. They refuse to see any wrong in Tiger.They refuse to see that no matter what, it all comes down to the fact that he willingly chose to get married, make vows, and then went back on them, hundreds of times. All of this while having unprotected , which Elin was not aware of (and considering the bar trash he slept with, STD's are not a far cry).You do not know whether or not she loved him when they got married, and whether or not she was just doing it to get money. But if she was doing it just to get money, it still doesn't matter. He is still the one who triggered the divorce. He is still the one who risked her life. He is still the one who cheated on her with over a hundred women. He gave her a reason to divorce him and take half his money.Quite frankly, she's not getting as much as she deserves. But at least she doesn't have to deal with that pig anymore. No matter what his golfing ability, he will forever be society's joke.
