If you've been together for years, it's important to spend quality time together doing new, interesting things to keep your relationship fresh. Check out these date-night ideas for longtime couples.

Cook together

Quick tips

A little taste: Date night doesn't have to cost a lot of money. Many local bars and restaurants offer wine tasting events that are very affordable and perfect for couples.

Just dessert: Another fabulous idea is to have dinner at home, and then go out to an expensive restaurant just for dessert. You'll still be able to enjoy the atmosphere, but at a fraction of the cost of a whole meal.

You don't always need to go out to enjoy date night. Spend time together and show off your culinary talents by cooking a meal. Prepare a fabulous dinner, and then cozy up together on the couch with a couple glasses of wine and a good movie.

Plan an outdoor date

A little fresh air can breathe some life back into your relationship, so plan outdoor dates as often as possible. In the summertime, consider an outdoor concert or picnic in the park. Even though it sounds cliche, a horse-drawn carriage ride makes the perfect wintertime date.

Go househunting

Whether you're looking to buy a new home or not, going househunting can be a fantastic way to spend time with your sweetie and dream about your future. Look at fixer-uppers that you can reinvent, as well as luxury homes that you could never afford.

Learn something new

Take an art class, learn how to ski or, better yet, work your way through the Kama Sutra.

Plan game night

Play games with your man, but not your ordinary board games. Incorporate some of these saucy and sexy board games for couples into your date night.

Meet up at a hotel

Do a little role playing and pretend the two of you are having an affair. Meet up at a hotel bar for a couple drinks, then pull out the key card and head up to the room for some sneaky, clandestine sex.

Rekindle the fire

Date night is about reconnecting on an emotional level, but it's also the time to get physical, too. If your sex life could use a little boost, put on some lingerie, give each other a massage, and explore some of your deepest sexual fantasies. Don't be afraid to incorporate new sex positions, sex toys or erotic films to turn up the heat.
