offbeat wedding demands
Germophobes! History buffs! Not content with any traditional wedding ceremony, these three brides made odd nuptial demands — and got them! Jennifer Glatt, wedding planning manager at 1-800-Registry, dishes about the most, ermm, "unique" requests she's ever had from brides who want their wedding day to be the experience they've always dreamed about.
"One bride had a phobia of public toilets and was consumed with fear about using the restroom at her event venue. Our concierge service stepped in to help by referring a vendor that offered a portable, private washroom just for the bride. She even had fun with the idea and decided to go all-out, requesting a gold, embellished throne fit for a queen!"
"A bride and groom with strong ties to the Renaissance era requested a Renaissance-themed wedding. Easy enough. But one specific detail required a custom-made Celtic Claymore sword for the bride to present to the groom at the altar, in keeping with the Celtic tradition of days gone by. Not only did we find a vendor for this specialized item, but a staffer worked closely with the bride to guide her and further assist with the purchasing and presenting of the custom-made gift."
"One of our concierges spoke with a bride who wanted a little piece of Italy in her wedding. She sought an authentic gondola to be delivered to her reception location to cradle the gifts from her guests, and we found a special vendor to provide it!"
