You could say we’re love-obsessed here at SheKnows so it should come as no surprise that we’ve put a lot of thought into what makes the perfect catch. There are a lot of traits we think are top-notch when it comes to prime dating material, but there are a few in particular that always seem to shine. Confidence

We had to put this one at the top of our list because it's so important when it comes to finding a guy who has the whole package. Put simply, confidence is sexy. A confident guy knows what he wants and isn't afraid to ask for it. He can make decisions with ease, talk to anyone and has charm to spare – all great qualities. Having confidence doesn't mean having a big ego, so be wary of guys who only seem self-assured but really just spend a lot of time boasting about themselves, acting like they know everything, or putting other people down. These are negative traits that will just frustrate you.

Sense of humor

Having a guy that can make you laugh – and who can laugh with you – is important. Without laughter and a sense of fun or playfulness, a relationship will get boring or fall into a rut pretty quickly. The more you can laugh together, the stronger your connection will be and the more time you'll want to spend in each other's company. Plus, funny guys are often quick-witted and come up with some unique ideas for dates that the average guy doesn't ever think of.

Positive attitude

Take it from us; you don't want to be stuck with someone who has a complaint about everything and who is never satisfied, because no matter what you do together – restaurants you eat at, movies you watch, places you go on vacation – he'll always find a way to ruin it with a bad attitude. Positive people go with the flow and are much better equipped to deal with setbacks. You want someone who can make the best of whatever is going on – not someone who makes things worse.

Like confidence, passion is another sexy trait. Without it, life can get pretty mundane. If a guy is passionate about his work or about a hobby he can't get enough of, that energy is going to cross over into his relationships. Passionate people – whether they're passionate about art or saving the whales – have a certain magnetism that makes them attractive to others.

Someone who is kind usually has a few other fabulous traits like the ability to be a good listener, patience, generosity and the willingness to compromise – all traits we like are men to have. Maybe nice guys aren't so bad after all.
