7 Ways to stay relaxed on your wedding day

Getting married is supposed to be fun. You've found someone you love, all your friends and family are coming to witness your big day and there will be good food, good music and cake! Instead of losing sleep over the guest list, melting into a puddle of anxiety over seating arrangements or having a panic attack whenever you think about your wedding budget, there are ways to keep the stress at an acceptable level. Here's how.

1Delegate

In order to stay sane and ensure everything gets done and nothing is forgotten, enlist your wedding party, your mom or the people you trust to take care of details like ensuring the rings, etc. get to the venue. Make a list of the most important details, make a few copies and delegate tasks to your loved ones. They would rather help you out that see you stressed on your big day.

2Hit the spa

You may not have time on your wedding day to spend precious hours at the spa, but think about going a few days before for a relaxing massage, manicure, pedicure or all three. The time away from the pre-wedding chaos will do you good and leave you refreshed for the main attraction.

3Expect the unexpected

There is always the potential for something to go wrong, but the key to handling it like a pro is to just relax and know that you can't control everything. The most you can do is be prepared with a mini emergency kit filled with helpful items like Tylenol, tissues, bandages and a sewing kit. Otherwise, it's best to go with the flow and enjoy yourself.

4Stay hydrated and snack

It's going to be a long day with a lot going on, so you'll need your energy. Sip water or herbal tea throughout the day and nibble on healthy snacks such as nuts, carrot sticks or whole wheat crackers. If you get too hungry, your mood will take a nosedive - not what you want on your wedding day.

5Leave yourself enough time

Always leave yourself more time than you think you'll need to get ready and to get to the venue. The last thing you want is to feel like you're rushing or worse, that you'll be late. Figure out how much time you think you need, and then add even more time to your estimate.

6Create a detailed plan

A few days, or even a week before the wedding, go over everything that needs to be done on the big day and make a list. Have your wedding consultant (or mom or sister) go over the list to make sure you haven't missed anything and keep a copy with you on your wedding day. Consult the list throughout the day to ensure everything goes according to plan.

7Remember to have fun!

Even though there's lots to do and potential to panic, remember that it's your day and you should enjoy it. Don't let anxiety ruin your fun or before you know it, the day will have passed in a blur of stress. Savor every moment, relax and hit the dance floor!
