As the April 29 nuptials near, royal watchers can’t help but wonder where the couple will spend their first weeks as newlyweds. Will it be at the exclusive K Club on Barbuda, a favorite of Princess Di? Or will they jaunt off to a private cottage in Scotland? Insiders speculate that Kate and Will may be headed to the Middle East, specifically the ancient city of Petra.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, 1947This royal couple kept it relatively low-key, spending time in Broadlands, the Mountbattens' country home, and in Birkhall, Queen Elizabeth's childhood home.
Princess Diana and Prince Charles, 1981After the ceremony, the couple caught the train to Romsey in Hampshire where they stayed at Broadlands, the family home of Prince Philip's family, the Mountbattens. Next, Charles and Diana boarded the royal yacht for part two of their honeymoon. They spent two weeks cruising to Algeria, Tunisia, Sicily, the Greek islands and Egypt and finally capped off their trip with a jaunt to Scotland. There, they spent time with the royal family in Balmoral.
Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones, 1999Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones began their honeymoon at the Queen's Scottish retreat. After a family lunch at Bagshot Park, the couple flew by helicopter to Balmoral Castle. They stayed at Birkhall Lodge, a house on the Balmoral estate usually used by Edward's grandmother, the Queen Mum.
