The Mermaid Dress

At OneWed.com, we've noticed a definite revival one wedding dress silhouette in particular: the mermaid. Like a real mermaid, the mermaid dress is half and half: half sheath and half ball gown. But this silhouette has come a long way since the 1990s when it first became popular.

Figure flattering

Brides who are not as comfortable with the form-fitting nature of the mermaid can use embellishments and distractions. This David Tutera by Faviana wedding dress makes creative use of a diagonal line and flowers to draw attention away from the waist and stomach area. A sash in appropriate bridal party colors, such as these from Bellissima bridal, also acts as camouflage.
