It's been said there's no such thing as a
sensitive, nurturing man who wants to connect emotionally. Men just want sex, plain and simple. Do you think that's true, on the most basic level?
Have they met me? Ha ha, no, I really don't think that's true. I think it's important in the dating world to distinguish between the two. There are definitely men out there looking just for sex. There are also guys who want to connect on that level -- guys who want more than just sex. You can probably tell in a guy within the first or second date.
What's the ugliest truth about your dating history? (Or dating in general... too predictable? not enough options out there? whatever..)
I think sometimes I don't give girls who don't fit my initial profile a chance.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yes, although I'd say it's more like love at first sentence. There have been several girls who, when I saw them, I thought, "Wow, she's perfect." It wasn't until we started talking that I realized she couldn't hold a conversation.
What initially attracts you to a woman?
One of the first things I notice about a girl is her smile. I love a girl with a nice smile.
What's your ideal first date?
I like to mix it up. I hate the traditional "let's grab a drink/dinner" date. I'm an active, outdoorsy person, so I like to suggest a date where we're doing something fun, say a bike ride or even a walk through the neighborhood. Living in the city offers so many options in terms of places to go. A live show is always a solid bet, too.
What qualities do you look for in a woman?
I know everyone is going to say personality and character, and that is mainly what I look for in women. However, there has to be that physical attraction there; otherwise, it won't last. For me, I also like girl who is spontaneous and willing to break the rules from time to time.
How do you think the constant influx of dating guides and movies has influenced "the scene"?
I personally feel technology has had a bigger influence on the scene than dating guides or movies. With texting, Facebook and email, dating has become so impersonal and almost too easy. I may be old school, but I still like to pick up the phone and have a conversation with someone.
OK, so we all know the fairy tale of meeting someone, instant attraction, and living happily ever after. But have you discovered things are way hotter if you actually hate them a little bit?
Oh, for sure. My past relationship started that way. I would come in late to work, and she made sure everyone knew it. Not until a few months later did we realize that we actually liked each other.
