In case you missed it, today was Heterosexuality Pride Day. While you should be proud of your sexuality no matter what, supporters should take a second to understand that gay pride is a thing because gay men and women have been suppressed, abused and denied their rights simply for being gay. They have to fight to be treated normally and they are fighting for the rights that straight people already have.
So, fellow straight folks, tell me why you need a parade, again?
There is no need for Heterosexual Pride Day because no one has ever been bullied, fired, arrested, tortured, or murdered for being straight.— Sam Kalidi (@samkalidi) June 29, 2016
Heterosexual Pride Day? Oh...so like White History Month? Or the Year of the cis! & don't forget Colonialism Day or Wall Street week.— DecolonizedSciencist (@They_berian) June 29, 2016
Heterosexual Pride Day is like the kid who cried until he got a present on his sibling's birthday. #HeterosexualPrideDay— ilona (@terroiriste) June 29, 2016
#HeterosexualPrideDay why do you need a pride day when it's heterosexual day everyday?— alexandra (@alyciaxuality) June 29, 2016

There's no need for a heterosexual pride day bc there's no such thing as heterophobia. Please take several seats. https://t.co/f3B7dYrqaZ— nat (@virtualstoic) June 29, 2016
"Heterosexual Pride Day" exemplifies the opposite of pride. It reflects a desperate, brittle insecurity about losing undeserved privilege.— Melissa McEwan (@Shakestweetz) June 29, 2016
Heterosexual Pride Day? Really? The other 364 days isn't good enough?— Elliot Morrow (@theleatherdaddy) June 30, 2015
Heterosexual Pride Day. Because we just need to take a day to remember that unhappy straight white men still exist.— lucyinglis (@lucyinglis) June 29, 2016
As a straight woman, who has never been bullied over my sexuality, I'll happily step aside and let gay men and women have this one. And you should, too.
