The Breakup Shop is an online store, but is it really necessary?

There is even a song about the fact that breaking up is hard to do. Indeed. So it is no surprise that in our tech-heavy age, a new website would come out that takes all the sting out of breakups. How? By doing it for you, of course.

The Breakup Shop will, for $10, give you a a text sent to your (soon to be former) significant other informing him or your decision to end things. You can also get an email saying the same thing. An actual letter will cost you twice as much and customization $10 more than that.

Their slogan? For the big wimp who can't face up to his own issues. Yes, I am assuming the users of this will largely be male.

This is very real, people. Even better? You can send gifts to your ex. Like Netflix and cookies. And you thought a break up text was rude!

In all honesty, this terrifying app is everything that is wrong with technology and relationships. If you can't handle breaking up with someone in a respectful and personal way, then you probably shouldn't have a girl or boyfriend to begin with. Yes we all loved the movie Roxanne and the story of Cyrano De Bergerac (on which the movie was based) in which a less attractive man uses his words to woo a woman by having a more attractive man speak them.

But at least that story made sense.

If you can't muster the courage to tell someone in a dignified way that you have to end things, then they truly are better off without you. I applaud the moxie and creativity that it takes to come up with a concept like this, but can't respect the people who would have to use it. The fact is, the way you end a relationship is every bit as important as the way you begin and maintain it during. To use a service like this proves you don't have what it takes to sustain a long term relationship.
