Woman publicly calls out Tinder date who criticized her body

Woman's Tinder date says he finds her attractive but needs to date someone slimmer

I have had a few friends come across matches over Tinder. I even tested out the application myself. This experience was short-lived, and almost every match turned out to be a guy looking to either talk dirty or skip the flirt and get down to the action.

Needless to say, I cringe when I hear of a friend or family member coming across a match and pursuing a meeting. I instinctively doubt its legitimacy. Of course it would be fantastic if everyone on Tinder could find that special someone, but the odds are slim.

While most of us are aware of Tinder's pros and many cons, it has earned quite the reputation for attracting creepers and booty call seekers. There has been the occasional happy-ever-after. Unfortunately for one woman, Michelle Thomas, Prince Charming didn't come this right swipe around.

The 30-year-old met her Tinder man for a round of drinks on London’s South Bank before taking a walk along the Thames. A seemingly romantic evening that ended on a positive note with a goodnight kiss. It was not until the next day that this guy proved himself too good to be true.

"I'm not going to bulls*** you," he begins in a message sent to Thomas the next morning. "I f***ing adore you Michelle and I think you're the prettiest looking girl I've ever met. But my mind gets turned on by someone slimmer. Shallow? It's not meant to be. It's the same reaction you get when you read a great author or see an amazing image, or listen to a piece of music you love, it has that instant reaction in you that makes you crave more. So whilst I am hugely turned on by your mind, your face, your personality (and God...I really, really am), I can't say the same about your figure."

Unfortunately this was only the start of a long-winded, extremely offensive message detailing why he was unable to pursue a relationship with Thomas. It was not that he did not find her to be attractive, but apparently he had "this awful feeling" that if they were to pursue a sexual relationship, his "body would let [him] down" due to his inability to find a woman with curves stimulating.

"There are certain triggers that fire my imagination into life," he continues, "and your wit and intelligence are the beginning of that process which would inevitably end up in the bedroom. With just one result....

I'm so disappointed in myself Michelle because I've genuinely not felt this way about anyone in ages, but I'm trying to be honest with you without sounding like a total knobhead."
I'm not sure "knobhead" would be the correct term to describe exactly the kind of man he is. And while naturally Thomas' first reaction to this obscene response to her body was to cry — and who can blame her — she let her tears fall before responding to him in an open letter she posted to her Facebook and personal blog, I Will Pay One Pound For Your Story.
Thomas perfectly counters the man's every argument against being with her because of her body within the first seven paragraphs of her letter, but it is her conclusion that brings this man to shame.
"What truly concerns me," she writes, "the real reason I'm responding so publicly, is the fact that you have a 13 year old daughter. A talented illustrator, who collects Manga comics and wants to visit Japan as soon as possible. I want you to encourage your daughter to love, enjoy, and care for her body. It belongs to her and only her. Praise her intellect, and her creativity. Push her to push herself and to be fearless. Give her the tools to develop a bomb-proof sense of self-esteem so that if (I'll be kind. I'll say “if”.) The time comes that a small, unhappy man attempts to corrode it, she can respond as I do now."
And that, my friends, is how it's done.
