Quick Way To Update A Picture Or Mirror Frame
Frames are one of the trendiest pieces of home decor right now because of how versatile they are! Whether you want to add some pizzazz to a plain mirror, create a unique statement piece with wallpaper backing or create a funky photo wall with a backless frame, these pieces are all the rage. However, buying a set of frames isn't cheap. Some even retail for up to $100! Instead of spending a fortune, pick up a cheap frame and paint it yourself!
For less than $25, you can't beat this DIY! You can use either a wooden or wire frame, whichever one you have lying around. Try to begin with a white, plain oak, black or gray frame since those will be the easiest to cover with paint without much show. Then, get your favorite colored spray paint and decorate! What you'll need:
Step 1: Lay frame on cardboardPlace frame flat on a piece of cardboard outside (since the paint will waft once it's sprayed).
Step 2: Spray paintBeginning on one side, coat the frame in spray paint. You'll need to spray a few times to cover some of the corners (especially in a spiral mirror). When you've finished one side, let dry completely (about 1-1/2 hours) before you flip it over to paint the other side.
Once the second side has dried (another hour), place the frame against a hard surface (with boxes behind and underneath it) and spray last minute touchups. Then, let it dry for another hour.
Step 3: Decorate!Once frame has dried, decorate to your heart's content! We stapled some patterened fabric to cardboard and hung it inside the frame for some unique artwork!
