If you thought Palm Springs' celebrity hotspots were the city's best-kept secret, you've never been privy to its collection of boutique hotels. On a recent visit, I happily discovered a portfolio that runs the gamut of kitschy and fun to chic and elite.

Korakia Pensione

Korakia Pensione is a dream – one that whisks you away to an exotic locale where delicate bougainvillea bloom and notes of jasmine fill the air. You may have seen its dramatic Moroccan entryway in the pages of Architectural Digest or the lush Mediterranean landscape holding its own among supermodels in Vogue fashion spreads. Korakia is made up of two historic villas, one Moroccan and the other Mediterranean in architecture, that have housed big names like Winston Churchill. This delicate balance of European and North African design is carried throughout Korakia, which hosts regular spiritual and fitness retreats.
