Checking in

5 Palm Springs
boutique hotels

If you thought Palm Springs' celebrity hotspots were the city's best-kept secret, you've never been privy to its collection of boutique hotels. On a recent visit, I happily discovered a portfolio that runs the gamut of kitschy and fun to chic and elite.

The Willows

The Willows

Once frequented by classic Hollywood names like Clark Gable and Shirley Temple, The Willows is a historic Palm Springs inn that's still coveted by today's Hollywood elite. Word on the street is Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake checked in at The Willows in 2007 as a last-ditch effort to try to mend their on-the-outs relationship. Nestled up against the San Jacinto Mountains, this ultra-exclusive hotel requires remote access to get through its gates and is near the Palm Springs Art Museum as well as countless restaurants and boutiques.

The Willows is my favorite, but I'd love to stay at any one of them for a weekend getaway!
