It’s time for the kids to go back to school again -- and while your kids shed a few tears about the end of summer, you’re celebrating on the inside. Even with the kids in school, though, finding time for yourself can be difficult. Projects, chores and other responsibilities can fill up your day fast. Before you know it, the school bus is out front and you haven’t had a chance to sit down. Use these tips to make sure you find some time for yourself each day.

1Enjoy your morning coffee.

Don't gulp your morning coffee or tea while you rush through your chores. Instead, pour yourself a cup, then sit down and enjoy it. Read the paper, go through your email or knock out a few chapters of a book while you enjoy the quiet in your home.

2Go for a walk.

Whether you're strolling the streets of your neighborhood or navigating your local mall, there's something to be said about not pushing a stroller or forcing a child to hold your hand. Take an hour out of your day a few times a week to just take a hike and soak in your surroundings.

3Exercise.

Now is your chance to join a gym or take that yoga class you've always wanted to try. If you can, pay for a chunk of classes ahead of time. If you've already paid, you're less likely to blow it off to clean the house instead.

4Get organized.

There's something soothing about an organized home. This can be hard to accomplish during the summer months, when the kids are making messes faster than you can clean them up. During the school year, however, you have the run of the house. Once a week, pick out a corner of your home and take a few hours to get it just how you want it. This may not seem like me time, but you'll feel great once it's done. Also, being organized can make other things go faster, so you'll have more time for yourself down the road.

5Take a nap.

The days when you took those little naps may seem like they're long gone, but they don't have to be. When the kids are at school, don't feel bad about curling up and taking a nap. You'll feel completely refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of your day with a more positive attitude.

6Suds up.

During the summer months, showers for a mom are few and far between. The ones you do get are usually rushed, and maybe even shared with a child or two. While they're away at school, indulge in a long shower or bath. You'll be surprised how much more relaxed you'll feel after 30 minutes in the water.

7Make a date.

Chances are, you aren't the only you know who's celebrating freedom at the start of the school year. Call up a girlfriend and make plans to get together when the kids are at school. Meet for breakfast after the kids get on the bus, or meet for lunch and a shopping trip before they come home. Schedule your get-together ahead of time, so you're less likely to skip out.

Set aside at least a few hours each week for yourself. You'll be a better you, and a better mom.
