No, no, no! This is another false rumor that seems to creep up around the ultra-popular social networking site every few months.

Facebook is not shutting down – no way, no how.

Facebook: $500 Million from Goldman Sachs

No one is really sure how this viral rumor took off, but there has been some speculation. First, a CNN opinion article on the $500 million dollar investment from Goldman Sachs said that it was "the beginning of the end" of Facebook. Also, Yahoo! announced last month that its shutting down Yahoo! Video on March 15, 2011.

Put those two things together and you have "Is Facebook shutting down on March 15?"

Facebook: More popular than Google

Facebook just passed Google as the most popular website in the United States. Nearly 9 percent of all web searches went for Facebook between January and November 2010, while the search giant only received about 7.2 percent of total web visitors.
