Have A Green Holiday Season

For a greener holiday season, be on the lookout for eco-friendly stocking stuffers. From babies to teens to Mom, you can find earth-friendly alternatives for everyone in the family if you know where to look.

Eco-stockings

Eco-friendly stockings

If you are looking for eco-friendly stockings, head to Etsy, where you can find hundreds of different options. We love these NOEL stockings (Etsy, $96 for four). These stockings are made from eco-spun felt created from 100-percent post-consumer recycled plastic bottles.

Organic teethers

For babies, look for organic teethers made of wood, organic cotton and other natural or recycled materials. We love the line MiYim Organic Teethers (Diapers.com, $12). They are created from certified organic and natural cotton, and come in three different styles.

Soy wax crayons

Get crayons that are more natural and eco-friendly than the traditional variety. We love the non-toxic, all-natural soy wax crayons from Crayon Rocks. These crayons are created from USA-grown soybeans and colored from natural mineral pigments. Their 16 Rocks in a Bag (Crayon Rocks, $7) is the perfect stocking stuffer.

Eco-friendly iPhone case

Owls are oh-so-trendy right now, so your teen girl will love this Eco Felt Owl Cell Phone Case (Miss Brittany's Organic Preschool, $25). Handcrafted by artisans from 100-percent recycled eco-friendly felt, these colorful, cute owl cases are perfect for iPhones, iPods, cameras and more.

Earth-friendly jump rope

Little jumpers will burn energy and save energy at the same time with this earth-friendly jump rope (Eco Choices, $10). This 7-foot jump rope is made with 100-percent cotton and features 100-percent recycled plastic handles.

Wooden puzzles

Kids love these natural wooden puzzles. These unique, unpainted puzzles are made from managed forest basswood. They make great display pieces. We love the Wooden Tug Boat Puzzle (Eco Choices, $15). It's the perfect size for a stocking stuffer.

Scrappy cats

These colorful, fun Scrappy Cats (Under the Nile $14) are created from 100-percent organic cotton scraps left over from clothing scraps. Little ones love them, and they are machine washable!

Organic Christmas candy

If you want to add some candy to your kids' Christmas stockings, head to the Natural Candy Store, where you can find natural, organic, fair trade and GMO-free candy. For stocking stuffers, consider their organic candy canes, lollipops and other hard candy.

Biodegradable towelettes

Giovanni Biodegradable Organic Towelettes (Giovanni Cosmetics, $12) leave your skin with a mint tingly feeling of clean freshness. These towelettes come in a little rice paper pouch, containing 20 wipes so they are ready whenever you need them. The wipes can hydrate, sanitize and rejuvenate whenever you need to be refreshed.

At the holidays, the Giovanni Biodegradable Peppermint Towelettes can serve several purposes:

  • Cleanse hands after diving into the Christmas candy jar.
  • Give feet a quick refresher after a night in holiday high heels.
  • Relax the forehead after a night of fun festivities.

I just wanted to pass on the idea that instead of throwing away the gift wrap that you can't smooth out and use again, shred it and use it as filler for packing instead of peanuts, (feed the squirrels)or styrofoam, or popcorn,(eat it!) And leaev a note to the recipient to save the filling in a bag and reuse the next time they need filling for any package.

I also love the stockings! Who would ever guess they were made from recycled plastic bottles. Christmas is a time of giving and it should also be a time of giving back to the Earth. This is a great list of eco-friendly stocking stuffers. Thanks!
