Mars has already left its footprint on the year. Named after the Roman god of war and mayhem, it means you don't have to look very far to see his handiwork. One would think that the planet's retrograde (Mars turned retrograde on April 17) would have cooled the fiery anger, but retrogrades tend to make this planet worse. That's because the backwards motion switches Mars’s energy from fight to flight. This creates an atmosphere of fear, panic and hysteria. We see it in our politics, we see it in our media and we see it in our society. But Mars also stands for good things as well, like chivalry, honor and heroism — qualities we aspire to embrace. Over the next five weeks, Mars will be winding up its prolonged stay in Scorpio. We've done the ordeals part. Now it's time to witness the transformations that will arise from them.
All of us have talents that we've neglected over time and aptitudes that have remained on the back shelf of our psyches collecting dust. But not all of us have an opportunity to resurrect them. This week, you will be invited to take up something that you put down years ago. This might come through the encouragement of an old friend, talking to an organization that you used to have dealings with or a sudden irrepressible urge to see if you still have what it takes to succeed in this area. The answer is yes. But bringing things up to speed will take time.
