This is a cautionary tale for anyone trying to sell something online — particularly if it’s a piece of furniture that's, well, past its best.

Emma Taylor was perfectly entitled to sell her (much) pre-loved sofa on the Internet, of course, but one Facebook user took offence at her persistent sales techniques and decided to have a bit of fun at the poor young woman's expense.

Joe Cordingley, 21, got involved after seeing her try to "sell [the] piece of shit relentlessly." It was soon apparent how desperate mum-of-one Taylor was to get rid of the sofa as she didn't take much persuading to saw it into three pieces.

Sadly the prankster never did "flipping turn up" for the wrecked sofa. We're not sure what Ms. Taylor did with her now three-piece but it's become famous, with over 70,000 sharing the story online.
