William Levy shares how he families

When it comes down to it, family really is what's important in life.

Actor William Levy learned that lesson at an early age, and he's sharing it with all of us through Tylenol's #HowWeFamily campaign.

Growing up in Cuba, he knows what it means to do without, and he wasn't very old when he realized that his grandma was doing without for him. Later, when he immigrated to the United States, he made a similar realization when he found out his uncle was working not to support himself, but Levy and his mother.

"Immigrant families come here to do something for someone else," he said.

That life lesson made a big impact on the young Levy, and it continues to influence the way he raises his own two children. "Family is before everything," he says in his own #HowWeFamily video.

Pride in family

The #HowWeFamily campaign was meant to start a conversation that showcases the diversity of families today and the shared pride families have in how they love.

For Hispanic families like Levy's, pride is an attribute rooted in their family system. According to the Tylenol #HowWeFamily survey, 9 out of 10 Hispanic Americans feel universal pride in their family. As National Hispanic Heritage Month is approaching, there's no better time than now to rejoice in the heritage, culture and traditions of Hispanic and Latino Americans.

Pride in traditions

According to the same survey, 9 out of 10 Hispanics believe it's important to preserve the traditions they grew up with and to pass traditions on to other family members — something Levy touched on in his video.

Understanding where you came from is a tradition that helps keep families strong.

That's why the #HowWeFamily campaign is so noteworthy. It's grounded in the notion that it isn’t about who you love, but how. The campaign encourages consumers to utilize #HowWeFamily on social media to join the conversation during a Twitter party on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 8 p.m. EST. Join, and tell us how you family.

The Twitter party will be hosted by Latina Bloggers Connect, with SheKnows influencers and Ana Roca Castro as special guests. Join in the party for a chance to win great prizes — only those who RSVP are entered to win. Click here for rules and more information.
