16 make-at-home costumes

Although you will probably have to hit a hobby store to find most of the items for these adorable animal costumes, some of the items can be found at home -- like, scissors, a hot glue gun, markers, paint and double-sided tape. So not only will the costume be cute, it will also be cheaper than a store bought one -- and much more creative!

  • Powder puff or large pompom or a handful of cotton balls
  • Double-sided tape [or fabric glue]
  • White pantyhose
  • Wire coat hanger
  • Plastic headband
  • Two pairs of socks to match suit colour
  • Plastic or real carrot

Attach the powder puff, pompom or cotton balls to the back of the sweat pants using double-sided tape [or fabric glue] Next, bend the coat hanger into the shape of two long bunny ears and gently stretch the panty hose over the ears--attach to plastic the headband. Remember to carry a carrot!

Tip: If you don' plan on reusing the sweatsuit, then you can use fabric glue instead of double-sided tape -- it will hold better.
