Canada's love affair with trains dates back to the Champlain and St. Lawrence Railroad which first opened in July of 1836! Since then, train trips and tours have been a popular way of taking in the breathtaking and unique scenery our nation has to offer, especially in the mountainous and more northern regions which cannot easily be accessed by other means. Here are a handful of talked about Canadian train trips - ride the rails!

Polar Bear Express

Operated by Ontario Northland on the James Bay Coast, the Polar Bear Express offers travelers a look at Canadian history, the astounding northern scenery and landscape, and a chance to experience aboriginal culture as well.

In summertime, there is a full dining car and a dome car boasting rounded windows which span toward the ceiling, allowing travelers optimum views of the scenery. The Polar Bear Express also operates a family car equipped with movies, games, and crafts!
