Settle into your very own kayak and get ready to explore Lucayan National Park, a 42-acre paradise established in 1982 by the Bahamas National Trust. This incredible sanctuary is a nature-lover's utopia of mid-Atlantic flora and fauna. This tour is perfect for individuals of all ages and experience levels. Before setting out, the guides provided our intimate group with a tutorial on relevant safety information to ensure comfort with our kayak and paddles. We then set out in a graceful glide across the calm waters of the reserve. This up close experience of the majestic mangrove canopies was simply unforgettable -- an engaging exploration of the Bahamian eco-system.
We came ashore Gold Rock Beach, with most of us rushing into the gentle surf. The coastal vistas made for a captivating view as we lunched beneath the shade of a dune-top shelter. After a relaxing stay on the beach, we went on a guided nature walk through the sanctuary, where we spotted wild orchids, ferns, mangroves, songbirds, and many other exotic features.
To cap off the half-day adventure, we then descended into the world famous cave system and explored the vast tunnels, which are part of pre-Columbian Bahamian history. We highly recommend Grand Bahamas Nature Tours for a scenic and enjoyable tour that will certainly be one of the highlights of your vacation!
