This simple salsa, often called “restaurant-style” salsa, tastes and looks just like the salsa served at Mexican restaurants. Adjust the spice to your liking and dip everything from chips to carrot sticks to pretzels into it for a healthy, fast snack.

Makes about 2 cups

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15.5-ounces) whole tomatoes with juice
  •
1/4 cup chopped onion

  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar

  • Crushed red pepper, to taste

Directions:

  1. Pulse all of the ingredients in a blender until evenly combined but not entirely smooth (you can make this salsa as thick or as smooth as you like). Store in the refrigerator for three to five days.
