Before you start your journey to Coachella it is very important to buy a ticket — but I shouldn't have to tell you that. Tickets for Coachella are a hot commodity as the weeks progress toward the festival. The longer you wait to purchase, the lower your chances become of obtaining that sought-after golden ticket. You can find the main website for purchasing tickets here. It is also recommended that you follow Coachella on Facebook and Twitter. In the past, these social media outlets have been very up to date about when tickets go on sale. In the unfortunate event that tickets are sold out, a few alternative options are StubHub, SeatGeek and Craigslist. Get started early, because this is one festival you don't want to miss.
Let me say this first: When you're at Coachella, the last thing you're going to want to do is sleep. Unfortunately, it is kind of a necessity that you get at least a few hours during your weekend. There are two options: You can either camp on the grounds or stay in a hotel off of the grounds and shuttle your way in each morning. If you ask anyone who has ever been, roughing it is definitely the way to go. With this option you will meet lots of people and keep the party going long after the music ends.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you didn't go to Coachella to sweat off 100 pounds and walk around aimlessly with no purpose or plan. I'm betting that if you spend the time and money to attend, you probably want to see some bands play, right? It's easy to get lost in the swarms of people and loud music and miss that one band you've dreamt about seeing. This is why it is important to grab a schedule immediately and craft a plan for your weekend. You can find a full schedule here.
Let's remember for a minute that Coachella is in the desert, so you better believe it's going to get hot, hot, hot. If you want to have a fun weekend and not spend the majority of it in the medical tent, you have to make sure you plan for the heat. Shorts are a necessity and sunscreen is imperative; just make sure you take precautions so you can make the most out of your time. Chances are that a lot of other people are going to have the same ideas as you do to dodge the sun, so this is your time to wriggle into the crowd of shade seekers and maybe meet some friends in the process.
The Do Lab is a designated area within the walls of the festival. It has a big dance floor, water park system and great after-hours parties with live music. In this area they have a sprinkler system, water guns and good music. So this is definitely a nice place to cool off during the heat of the day and keep the party going at night. Make sure to plan on hitting this area at least once a day during your Coachella adventure.
