How To... Whiten Your Teeth
One of the first things many people notice is your smile. Make sure your smile beams with a pearl-white color. Check out these easy steps to whiten teeth.
Brush twice a day
Brush your teeth morning and night, everyday without fail. Use a whitening toothpaste on a regular basis and be sure to floss. If your teeth are stained, try home whitening strips or trays to remove stains and whiten your teeth.
Visit your dentist
Schedule an appointment for cleaning every six months. If you have the extra cash to spend, consider professional whitening methods. The cost can be upwards of $1,000 but the results can last for years.
Stain proof your diet
Take it easy on coffee, tea, cola, grape juice, red wine, blueberries and soy sauce. When eating or drinking these foods, use a straw and brush your teeth immediately when you are finished with your meal. Also avoid acidic foods. They erode tooth enamel, which allows your teeth to become easily stained.
Smoking not only causes lung cancer and other diseases, the tobacco in cigarettes also stains your teeth. Put the cigarettes (cigars and chewing tobacco too!) down for good.
Wear silver jewelry
Yellow gold makes your teeth look more yellow. Instead wear silver or white gold jewelry, along with diamonds, rhinestones and white crystals to make your teeth appear whiter.
Pick the right lipstick
Choose true red lipsticks or those with blue undertones to make your teeth look their best and brightest. Lipsticks with coral, orange or yellow tones can make your teeth look yellow too.
