Celeb homes far from the red carpet

Do you ever wonder how your favorite celebrities live when they’re off the red carpet? Last week HGTV’s Hollywood at Home gave viewers an intimate look inside the homes of some of the entertainment industry’s most intriguing celebrities. Keep reading to check out where these stars kick back when they’re not on the "star" side of the velvet ropes in Hollywood.

Andie MacDowell, Mark Ballas, Carly Patterson, Kelly Bensimon, Natalie Coughlin and George Jones gave viewers a personal look at the spaces they love. Decide which celebrity home is your favorite sanctuary away from Hollywood -- you might be pleasantly surprised to see where some of these stars actually live.

Andie MacDowell

The award-winning actress has a traditional Tudor-style home in Asheville, North Carolina. The house boasts almost 11,000 square feet, with stunning views of the rolling hills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. MacDowell created a family home focused around the lives of her three children. You won't find any tributes to her celebrity life in the decor -- instead, she showcases photos of her children among comfortable gathering areas and a huge kitchen.

Andie MacDowell

Our favorite highlight:

MacDowell's large master bedroom with its gorgeous fireplace and stunning views.

Mark Ballas

The Dancing with the Stars champion used musical accents to decorate his West Hollywood bachelor pad. He may be best known for strutting his stuff on DWTS, but he's actually a talented musician, too -- from Kurt Cobain tribute artwork to creating acoustically pleasing rooms, Ballas made his home a music-lover's paradise.

Our favorite highlight:

Ballas' collection of guitars as gallery artwork throughout the home.

Mark Ballas

Natalie Coughlin

The swimmer and 11-time Olympic medalist designed a modern home nestled in the hills of San Francisco's East Bay area. Coughlin incorporates clean lines with warm tones to create a tranquil and cozy vibe.

Natalie Coughlin

Our favorite highlight:

Coughlin's terraced backyard with an organic vegetable garden and hen house.

Kelly Bensimon

The former star of Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York City has a loft in Tribeca with modern decor and eclectic accents. Bensimon loved decorating with one-of-a-kind pieces and incorporating artwork created by her young daughters.

Our favorite highlight:

The large throw pillows she had made out of colorful Hermes scarves.

George Jones

The country music legend has a 78-acre estate just outside of Nashville. His traditional home is filled with photos and memorabilia of his career and life (Jones has recorded over 100 albums). The grounds of the estate are filled with gorgeous trees and gardens because the singer loves to work outside.

George Jones

Our favorite highlight:

The singer known for obsessing about his hair had a professional salon built into the home.

Carly Patterson

The Olympic Gold medalist and singer showed us her first condo since leaving the nest. Patterson didn't stray too far from home, and enlisted the help of her mom with decorating the two-bedroom pad that showcases modern and traditional accents.

Our favorite highlight:

Patterson's mom getting all teary-eyed when sharing how proud she was of her daughter's home.

Carly Patterson
