Recreate Her
Outdoor Space
Courteney Cox gave a tour of her private Malibu retreat in this month’s issue of Elle Décor. The overall aesthetic was an organic, nature-inspired look with muted tones that complement the gorgeous scenery and spectacular views. While not all of us have a front-row view of the Pacific Ocean, we can draw inspiration from her back deck in planning our own beach-inspired outdoor space.

With dramatic views of the water, and furniture that looks like it has been there for years, it's easy to see why Cox loves to relax in her outdoor sanctuary. A weathered teak stool sits beside a chair by Paoli Lenti – the sofa and cocktail table are by Sutherland.
For inspiration, we've put together a collection of outdoor furnishings and décor to express the overall feel the Cougar Town star created on her back deck.

A pop of white
This crisp white, slip-covered chair from Crate and Barrel looks like it was designed for life indoors, but is actually constructed to live outside. The white is sure to pop against your backyard's natural backdrop -- and, after all, white décor is totally trending this summer.

Aged to perfection
The weathered look of this sofa and coffee table from Restoration Hardware has that timeworn air similar to Cox's furniture. While the furniture is brand-new, it has that aged, reclaimed look so popular right now.

From the sand
A beach shell is quintessential beach décor, but it can also add a bit of whimsy to your space without overdoing it. This giant clam shell from Ballard Designs is pretty without being too much.

Accessorize
Incorporating this handmade wooden vase from Etsy and filling it with fresh flowers, alongside a potted orchid, finishes off the coffee table. While using one of these larger zinc tapered planters (also from Restoration Hardware) would work great anchoring the corner of your space -- cap it off by filling it with a succulent garden or your favorite herbs.
Who says you need to live in Malibu to get that relaxed, beach-inspired feel in your own outdoor space?
