National Public Gardens Day is the Friday before Mother's Day, making it an ideal occasion to enjoy the spring blooms (and gorgeous weather) with loved ones. This annual celebration is an educational opportunity to learn about the environmental preservation efforts advocated by public gardens. For example, many public gardens conduct research on different plant species, are committed to community education, and act as environmental stewards both locally and nationally. A public garden can also offer lessons about local native plant species, water conservation, and organic gardening methods.
Better Homes and Gardens is offering free admission to local gardens in celebration of National Public Gardens Day. Visit www.bhg.com to register for free admission.
