Green design is a hot topic right now. Even companies that have never been thought of as “environmentally conscious” are making a real, concerted effort to create and design products that are more environmentally sound and incorporate eco-friendly materials into their designs.

While the best way to stay on the eco-friendly bandwagon is to buy used or vintage, if you need to purchase new, here are four design companies that are turning heads in the eco-friendly design space.

1Maria Yee Maria Yee

Maria Yee, based in California and China, make a bevy of different home furnishings, but her most coveted line is the EcoLuxury -- "Luxury that's ecologically responsible." The line focuses on bamboo, a popular economical building product, and they use waterborne finishes, vegetable oil tanned leather and glues that won't harm the environment.
