Couple turns their kitchen into every Simpsons fan's dream space

Faced with a dated 1950s kitchen that looked vaguely like the one from The Simpsons, this couple didn't have a cow, man — they decided to run with it and re-create the kitchen from the iconic show in loving detail. And the result is pretty wonderful.

Marcia Andreychuk and Joel Hamilton live in Calgary and are giving their kitchen what they're calling a "retro-vation." For very little cash, they lovingly re-created Marge's kitchen from The Simpsons, complete with the iconic corncob curtains. Where in the world do you get corncob fabric for the curtains? Well, Spoonflower sells them.

The lavender cabinets were re-created with contact paper and new, painted wood pulls. The blue countertops set the renovation budget back by only $20. (We're kind of loving her old pulls made out of flatware, though.)

No detail is too small. Here's a side-by-side of the perfectly re-created green spoons from the show. These are clearly two folks who came of age during the 1990s.

Check out the linoleum. It's a perfect match. Goes to show you don't need a big budget, just a sense of humor and fun. I think I hear Homer pulling into the driveway from Moe's right now.

Andreychuk made the stove look like Marge's with olive green contact paper. She says she has a dream of buying new appliances in olive green, but for now she's going to work on covering the rest in more contact paper. Even if you don't love The Simpsons' kitchen, the takeaway here is that contact paper can work miracles.
